Toshi's refreshed image, unveiled Aug. 15, will aid in Coinbase's effort to "Invest in products that will define the future of the decentralized web."

In a blog post published Aug. 15, Coinbase has revealed that its crypto wallet Toshi will be rebranded as Coinbase Wallet.

"This is not just a new name, but part of a larger effort to invest in products that will define the future of the decentralized web and make that future accessible to anyone. At Coinbase, we believe that the applications of the future will be built on a decentralized internet. Everyone will own a crypto wallet that allows them to access decentralized applications and that wallet will be their gateway to the open financial system."

Current Toshi app users will be automatically updated to Coinbase Wallet in the near future.

Toshi, which launched last year, featured the world's first mobile dApp browser, according to Coinbase.

In addition to the rebrand, Coinbase has unveiled a variety of features that it hopes will demonstrate "What you should expect a crypto wallet to be."

Explore third-party dApps, which will allow users to take out a loan, lend to others or earn crypto by completing tasks.

Coinbase Wallet will also ensure that private keys are secure by utilizing Secure Enclave and biometric authentication technology in user devices.
